Vice President Kashim Shettima has commenced a two-week annual leave starting Thursday, August 6, 2026, following approval from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to an official statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha, this marks Shettima’s first formal break since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

The Vice President intends to use the period for personal study, reflection, and intellectual renewal to enhance his capacity for national service.

The statement noted that the two-week recess will allow the Vice President to evaluate the administration’s ongoing initiatives, assess policy developments, and prepare for upcoming governance responsibilities under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He is scheduled to resume his official duties at the conclusion of the leave on or around August 20, 2026.
