Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully foiled an attempted terrorist infiltration along the Gujba–Buni Yadi Main Supply Route in Yobe State. About 30 insurgents were forced to retreat under heavy gunfire during the operation.

The encounter took place around 2:30 p.m. on August 4 following credible intelligence about the movement of terrorists along the strategic highway. Soldiers from the 198 Special Forces Battalion, reinforced by personnel from the 27 Task Force Brigade, mobilised to the area of Mahadiya Bridge.

The insurgents were reportedly using the difficult marshy terrain to evade ongoing military clearance operations around the Buni Yadi Forest and nearby communities.

Troops engaged them with heavy fire, compelling the group to abandon the infiltration attempt and flee in disarray.

After the clash, the soldiers conducted extensive searches across several locations, including Gujba, Gidan Kaji, Kasatchiya, Mahadiya, the College of Agriculture axis, and Sabon Garin Mai Mala. The aim was to ensure no terrorists remained hidden in the area.

Military sources said monitoring and surveillance operations are continuing to prevent the insurgents from regrouping. The incident occurred as troops intensify offensive actions under Operation Desert Sanity V to dismantle terrorist enclaves and restrict their movement across the North-East.
