Federal Government Advances Review of Police Salary Structure, Allowances, Welfare Package
The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting the morale and operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) by advancing a comprehensive review of the police salary structure, allowances, pension benefits, and housing support.
During a meeting of the Ministerial/Stakeholders Committee on the Review of the Nigeria Police Force Salary Structure and Welfare Package in Abuja, Committee Chairman and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr. Anuma Ogbonnaya Nlia, emphasized that the initiative aims to address long-standing welfare issues affecting serving and retired personnel.
The committee focused on harmonizing existing allowances to reflect current economic realities and Public Service Rules, resolving outstanding liabilities such as pension arrears, death benefits, and Group Life Insurance claims, and establishing sustainable funding mechanisms for officer housing and operational needs.
Technical teams were directed to consolidate proposed allowance schedules, justify discontinued items, and prepare a final draft report for submission to the government to ensure prompt implementation.
