Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Arrest Four Suspects in Plateau Raid
Troops of Sector 1 under Operation Enduring Peace have thwarted an attempted kidnapping in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, leading to the rescue of a female victim and the arrest of four suspected kidnappers during a follow-up operation.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on Wednesday after troops responded to a distress report of suspected kidnapping activities around the ECWA Staff Quarters in Jos North.
By the time security personnel arrived at the location, the victim, identified as Gift Nicholas, had escaped from her captors before the troops reached the scene.
Following preliminary intelligence gathered from the incident, the troops carried out a raid on a Fulani settlement situated behind the ECWA Staff Quarters later the same morning.
During the operation, security operatives recovered a locally fabricated Dane gun and apprehended four suspects identified as Habibu Aliyu, 19, Muhammadu Abdullahi, 13, Hamisu Aliyu, 17, and Abbas Adam, 27.
The suspects are currently being held in military custody while investigations continue to establish their involvement in the attempted abduction and determine whether they are connected to other criminal activities in the area.
Military sources said the operation is part of ongoing efforts by Operation Enduring Peace to tackle kidnapping and other security threats across Plateau State. They added that security agencies are pursuing other members of the suspected criminal network still at large.
