Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have arrested a 39-year-old suspected gunrunner during an intelligence-led operation in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The suspect, identified as Moses Azin, was apprehended at Haske Quarters during a targeted operation carried out by personnel of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, following intelligence linking him to alleged illegal firearms trafficking in the area.

Security sources said the operation was based on credible intelligence indicating the suspect’s alleged involvement in the movement and distribution of illicit weapons within Plateau State.

According to the sources, Azin was arrested without resistance and has been taken into military custody for further investigation.

Investigators are reportedly examining the scope of his alleged activities, including possible connections with criminal networks or armed groups operating within Plateau State and neighbouring communities.

The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by Operation Enduring Peace to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and dismantle criminal supply networks contributing to insecurity in the state.

Security sources added that troops have sustained intelligence-driven surveillance and targeted operations aimed at identifying and apprehending individuals suspected of facilitating the circulation of illicit weapons across the region.
