President Faye of Senegal Praises Sahara Group for Backing Energy Security
Senegalese President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye has praised Sahara Group for its long-standing support for Société Africaine de Raffinage, the country’s oil refinery.
He made the remarks when he received a delegation from the company at the Presidential Palace in Dakar.
Faye described Sahara as a trusted partner in Senegal’s energy sector. He noted the company’s flexibility and constructive partnership with SAR, especially in helping the country meet its energy needs during challenging global market conditions.
The Sahara delegation was led by Executive Director, Wale Ajibade, who attended alongside SAR Managing Director, Mamadou Abib Diop. Ajibade reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Senegal’s energy security and economic development.
He said Senegal remains an important partner for Sahara and that the company will continue to deploy its expertise, infrastructure and operational experience to back the country’s energy goals.
Ajibade added that Sahara’s involvement goes beyond its shareholding in the refinery and includes wider efforts to improve energy access across Africa.
Diop described Sahara as a reliable long-term partner that has invested significantly in Senegal. He said the company supports SAR’s crude oil supply needs and works closely with local stakeholders to address challenges in the energy market. The meeting reinforced the partnership aimed at strengthening energy supply reliability in the country.
