Troops Arrest Suspected Kidnapper, Rescue Abducted Victim

Troops of Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have arrested a suspected kidnapper in Nasarawa State and rescued an abducted victim in Benue State during separate operations.

The suspected kidnapper, identified as Adamu Lamu, was arrested on September 4 at Agyaragu, Nasarawa State, following the escape of one of the victims of the kidnapping syndicate.

The victim, 31-year-old Nehemiah Elisha, reportedly escaped from his abductors and later spotted Lamu at a market in Agyaragu.

Elisha alerted troops deployed in the area, prompting them to swiftly respond and apprehend the suspect.

Lamu was subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation and legal action.

In a separate operation on September 6, troops of the COAS Intervention Battalion XI, deployed at Torkula, Benue State, rescued a kidnapped victim along the Umene-Torkula Road.

The victim, identified as Vincent Nyado, was found tied and abandoned by the roadside during a patrol conducted by the troops at about 10:07 a.m.

Preliminary information indicated that Nyado had allegedly been abducted by suspected terrorists.

The suspects reportedly fled into surrounding bushes after sighting the approaching troops, abandoning the victim.
