Senator representing Bauchi South, Shehu Buba, has denied claims linking him to bandit leaders and the sponsorship of banditry in northern Nigeria.

He issued a statement on Sunday in Abuja rejecting the accusations.

Buba said he has been the target of false narratives and manipulated videos since 2024. According to him, the claims became more intense after he emerged as the Peoples Redemption Party governorship candidate in Bauchi State.

The senator stated that he has taken legal action against those behind the allegations. Cases have been filed in courts both in Nigeria and in Niamey, Niger Republic.

Buba insisted that his political record should be assessed based on policies, competence and vision rather than what he described as fabricated claims and character attacks.

He maintained that the accusations were aimed at damaging his reputation ahead of the election and called on the public to disregard them.
The development has drawn mixed reactions as the governorship race in Bauchi continues to take shape.
