Tinubu Mourns Death of Prof. Aminu, Says He’s profound Loss

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to former minister and elder statesman, Professor Jibril Aminu, describing his death as “a profound loss to the nation and a painful departure of one of Nigeria’s brightest minds in public service.”
In a heartfelt statement issued by the Presidency, President Tinubu praised Aminu’s legacy of excellence, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s development, stating that the late statesman served the nation with “intellectual depth, moral clarity, and an unshakable belief in the potential of Nigeria.”
“Professor Aminu was more than a public servant. He was a beacon of integrity, a philosopher in government, and a mentor to generations.
His contributions to education, health, and national discourse remain enduring pillars of our democratic journey,” the President remarked.
The late Aminu, a former Minister of Education and Health, diplomat, academic, and former Nigerian ambassador to the United States, was widely respected for his intellect, modesty, and principled approach to politics. He passed away after a brief illness, leaving behind a rich legacy of service and scholarship.
President Tinubu extended his condolences to the Aminu family, the people of Katsina State, and the entire nation, urging Nigerians to honour the late statesman’s memory by “deepening our commitment to nation-building, just as he did till his final days.
“May Almighty Allah grant him eternal rest and reward his decades of service to our beloved country,”
