Tinubu Goes Tough on Governors, says No Approvals Without FG’s Collaboration

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on state governors to ensure full collaboration with the Federal Government before planning approvals for major infrastructure projects, emphasizing that such synergy was essential for sustainable national development.
Speaking at a high-level policy engagement in Abuja, the President stressed the importance of coordination between federal and state governments to avoid duplication, inefficiencies, and conflicts in infrastructural development.
“We cannot afford to have roads that lead nowhere or projects that conflict with national priorities. Planning approvals for major infrastructure must align with federal frameworks. Governors must collaborate with the Federal Government before giving the green light,” President Tinubu stated.
The President’s remarks come amidst renewed federal efforts to streamline national infrastructure development, including the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway and other transformative road and rail projects.
President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, calling for a new era of unity between tiers of government.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda demands cooperation, not competition, between federal and state actors. Infrastructure is not about ego it’s about the people,” he said.
