First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu has announced plans to extend the TETFund/Renewed Hope Initiative ICT programme to 15 additional higher institutions across Nigeria.

The initiative is designed to provide young Nigerians with access to training in emerging areas of technology, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and robotics.

Tinubu made the announcement while commissioning an ICT centre established under the programme at an institution in Kwara State.

She said the expansion would increase the number of institutions benefiting from the initiative and create more opportunities for students and young people to develop technology-related skills.

The First Lady noted that digital skills are becoming increasingly important in education and employment, stressing the need to equip young Nigerians with knowledge that can prepare them for changing demands in the global economy.

The ICT centres are expected to provide beneficiaries with access to modern technology facilities and training programmes aimed at improving their digital competencies.

She also commended the institutions and relevant government agencies involved in implementing the programme, urging beneficiaries to take advantage of the facilities to acquire practical skills.

The expansion is expected to widen access to technology education and support efforts to prepare more Nigerian youths for opportunities in the digital economy.
