The Nigerian Institute for Behavioural Science, Education and Care Professionals (NIsBEC) has commenced operations in Lagos, with a focus on strengthening professional standards and competence in behavioural science, special education and care services.

The institute was officially unveiled in Lagos on Monday, according to a statement made available on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, a member of NIsBEC’s Board of Directors and Trustees, Dr Eziafakaku Nwokolo, said the organisation would provide practitioners with opportunities for professional development while promoting research and evidence-based policy.

Nwokolo said the institute’s objective was to equip professionals with the skills needed to improve practice and contribute to the development of the behavioural science, special education and care sectors in Nigeria.

She added that NIsBEC would also facilitate knowledge sharing and create opportunities for practitioners to collaborate on research and policy initiatives.

According to her, the institute aims to empower professionals, influence policy and establish a platform for research and knowledge exchange capable of advancing behavioural science, special education and care services across the country.

The launch marks the beginning of NIsBEC’s operations as it seeks to contribute to the professionalisation and development of practitioners working with individuals requiring behavioural, educational and care-related support.
