Getting a Nigerian driver’s licence is now simpler, as applicants can begin the process online before visiting a Driver’s Licence Centre for biometric capture. The online system allows motorists to submit personal details, make payments and schedule an appointment.

Before starting the application, applicants must attend an FRSC-accredited driving school and obtain a certificate. They also need a National Identification Number, a valid means of identification and a passport photograph.

To begin, visit the official portal at nigeriadriverslicence.org. Select “DL Application” and choose “New Driver’s License.” Enter the driving school certificate number and personal information, ensuring all details match those linked to the National Identification Number.

Next, select a preferred FRSC Driver’s Licence Centre for biometric capture and book an appointment. Payment can then be made through the Remita gateway on the official portal using card, bank transfer or USSD. Applicants are advised to pay only through the official platform and avoid unofficial agents.

After payment, print the receipt and attend the scheduled biometric appointment with original documents for verification. Successful applicants may receive a temporary driver’s licence valid for 60 days while the permanent card is being processed.
