NFF Directs League Chairmen, CEOs to Hand Over to COOs

The Nigeria Football Federation has ordered the chairmen, appointed directors and chief executive officers of the country’s four major domestic leagues to hand over their administrative duties to their respective Chief Operating Officers.

The directive affects the Nigeria Premier Football League, Nigeria National League, Nigeria Women’s Football League and Nationwide League One.

The move forms part of the federation’s ongoing restructuring of Nigerian football. It follows the recent resignations of NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi and members of the Executive Committee.

The instruction requires the current leaders of the leagues to transfer their day-to-day administrative responsibilities to the COOs. This is aimed at ensuring continuity in the running of the competitions during the transition period.

The four leagues play a central role in the development of domestic football in the country. The temporary shift in administrative control is expected to maintain stability while the federation works through its organisational changes.

The NFF has not yet provided a detailed timeline for when permanent leadership arrangements will be finalised. The directive underscores the federation’s efforts to keep the leagues functioning smoothly amid the recent leadership changes at the top.
