Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has reached out to former governors and opposition figures as part of a post-election reconciliation drive.

In a statement on Friday, his spokesperson said the governor spoke with former governors Bisi Akande, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Rauf Aregbesola. He also placed calls to former governor Adegboyega Oyetola and APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, though those calls had not been returned at the time of the statement.

Adeleke used the 35th anniversary of Osun State’s creation to congratulate political leaders and appeal for support in healing divisions after the governorship election.

He repeated his message that there was “no victor, no vanquished” and that it was time to return to governance.

The governor said he was acting on President Bola Tinubu’s request that he champion peace-building in the state. He urged predecessors and fellow contestants to help restore elite dialogue and create an environment for residents to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

The outreach comes after a fiercely contested election season that left political groups in the state divided.
