Haaland, Cherki Brace as City Cruise Past Crystal Palace

Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki both scored twice as Manchester City beat Crystal Palace 4-1 at Selhurst Park on Friday night.

The result gave Enzo Maresca’s side a second successive Premier League win and six points from two games.

Haaland opened scoring in the 17th minute with a looping header from Antoine Semenyo’s cross, his first league goal of the season. City controlled much of the first half after an early Palace surge, though the hosts remained a threat.

Cherki took the game away from Palace after the break. In the 54th minute he danced through the defence and poked home. Two minutes later Palace pulled one back when Yeremy Pino’s free-kick came back off the woodwork and went in off Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Cherki responded almost immediately, firing in a deflected shot in the 59th minute to restore City’s two-goal lead. Haaland completed the scoring in the 85th minute with a typical left-foot finish from Phil Foden’s pass.

Palace remain without a point after two matches. City, still finding their rhythm under Maresca, now sit among the early leaders after a convincing away display.
