Critics of President’s Performance Need ‘Tinubu Eyeglasses’, Says Remi Tinibu
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said Nigerians who fail to recognise the progress being made under President Bola Tinubu’s administration may need what she described as “Bola Tinubu eyeglasses.”
She made the remark on Friday, October 23, 2026, during the inauguration of the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots organisation mobilising support for the President’s re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking at the event, the First Lady expressed confidence in the country’s direction, insisting that developments were taking place despite criticisms of the administration.
She pointed to changes at Nigerian airports as one example of the progress she believes the country is recording, noting that improvements in travel infrastructure would make movement easier for Nigerians.
According to her, the country is experiencing changes that some people may not be acknowledging.
She said she hoped to leave the Presidential Villa in 2031 and return to enjoying life in a better Nigeria as a woman in her seventies.
“I want to leave Aso Rock, in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that I, as a 70-something-year-old woman, will enjoy,” she said.
The First Lady added that the improvements she had observed across the country convinced her that progress was being made.
She subsequently commissioned the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, expressing support for efforts to secure victory for her husband in the 2027 presidential election.
The event comes as political activities and mobilisation efforts gradually intensify ahead of the next general election, with supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress working to build backing for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
