Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested two suspected terrorists and recovered weapons, ammunition and communication equipment during a night patrol operation in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, banditry and other criminal activities in the area.

The suspects were apprehended during a patrol conducted by troops attached to a Forward Operating Base in the local government area.

Items recovered from the suspects included an AK-47 rifle, a locally fabricated Dane gun, magazines, live ammunition and cartridges.

Troops also recovered communication devices, a motorcycle, military-style clothing and a sum of money believed to be connected to the suspects’ activities.

A preliminary examination of materials found on one of the suspects’ mobile phones reportedly revealed photographs and video recordings considered useful for intelligence gathering.

Security authorities said the recovered items are undergoing further analysis as investigations continue into possible links between the suspects and terrorist networks operating in the region.

The military described the arrests as another success in its intelligence-led operations aimed at disrupting criminal activities and denying terrorists freedom of movement.

Commanders commended the troops for their vigilance and professionalism and encouraged them to sustain ongoing operations against criminal elements.

The army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while supporting efforts to restore lasting peace and security across Zamfara State.

The suspects remain in custody and are expected to face further investigation as security agencies continue efforts to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks in the region.
