The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commissioned a new Critical Care Centre in Kaduna as part of efforts to strengthen medical support services for military personnel.

The facility is designed to provide advanced healthcare services for wounded soldiers and personnel requiring specialised medical attention during operations and training activities.

Speaking during the commissioning, the Army Chief said the centre reflects the Nigerian Army’s commitment to improving the welfare, healthcare and operational readiness of its personnel.

He noted that effective medical support remains a critical component of military operations, particularly in addressing emergencies and ensuring the quick recovery of injured personnel.

The facility is expected to enhance the Army’s capacity to provide timely and high-quality treatment for critically ill and wounded troops.

As part of the project, a modern helipad was also commissioned to facilitate rapid medical evacuation and emergency transportation of injured personnel from operational areas.

Military authorities said the new infrastructure would significantly improve emergency response capabilities and strengthen healthcare delivery within the armed forces.

The Army Chief reaffirmed the military’s commitment to investing in personnel welfare, stressing that quality healthcare contributes directly to operational effectiveness and troop morale.

He commended officers and personnel involved in the development of the facility and urged medical staff to maintain the highest standards of professionalism in delivering healthcare services.

The commissioning forms part of broader efforts by the Nigerian Army to modernise its medical infrastructure and improve support systems for personnel engaged in various security operations across the country.
