Kylian Mbappé scored a hat-trick as Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday.

The result gave José Mourinho a winning homecoming in his first match back at the stadium as head coach and made it two league wins from two for the Portuguese.

Mbappé opened the scoring in the 40th minute, cutting inside and firing into the top corner after a pass from Federico Valverde. Real Sociedad equalised four minutes later through Luka Sucic.

Madrid improved after the break. Mbappé restored the lead on the hour following a combination with Jude Bellingham. Bellingham then won the ball in the area and set up Vinícius Júnior for a tap-in in the 68th minute. Mbappé completed his treble in the 80th minute with a composed chip after a through ball from Vinícius.

The victory followed Madrid’s 2-1 opening-day win at Espanyol and marked Mourinho’s first home game in charge since his previous spell at the club more than 13 years ago.

Bellingham provided two assists as the attacking trio of Mbappé, Vinícius and the England midfielder combined effectively in the second half.
