Opposition MP Hurls Eggs at Kosovo Prime Minister, Albin Kurti in Parliament

An opposition lawmaker pelted Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, with eggs inside the parliamentary chamber on Saturday, August 8, 2026, amid growing tensions over an ongoing political stalemate.

The incident occurred after Kurti informed lawmakers that he needed additional time to hold consultations with rival political parties before nominating a candidate for speaker of parliament following the country’s snap elections in June.

Video footage showed Time Kadrijaj, a member of parliament representing the Alliance party, retrieving eggs from her bag and throwing them directly toward the prime minister while shouting, “Shame, shame.”

The confrontation prompted fellow lawmakers and security details to intervene as Kurti left the floor. Responding to the protest, Kurti remarked that if being pelted with eggs was the price of dialogue to reach political consensus, he would willingly pay it.

Kosovo has faced political gridlock and frequent electoral cycles, with the recent June elections marking its third poll in less than 18 months.
