Atiku Demands Transparency Over $20 Billion Contracts Allegedly Linked to Tinubu’s Associate

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide a transparent accounting regarding approximately $20 billion (roughly N27 trillion) worth of government projects allegedly awarded to companies linked to his long-time associate, Gilbert Chagoury.

In a statement issued through his media aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku stated that recent international reports questioning the procurement process have elevated concerns over the administration’s financial practices to a global credibility crisis.

Atiku questioned whether the multi-billion-dollar contracts underwent competitive bidding procedures and called on the federal government to publicly disclose procurement records, beneficial ownership details, tax waivers, and concession agreements associated with the projects.

He stressed that as citizens contend with rising living costs, higher taxes, and fiscal austerity measures, the presidency must demonstrate accountability and ensure public funds are managed with total openness.
