Ekiti Poll: DIG Fayoade Promises Safe, Peaceful Electoral Process

The Supervising Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the Ekiti State governorship election, Mustapha Fayoade, has assured residents, voters and election officials of comprehensive security coverage throughout Saturday’s governorship poll.

Speaking during a meeting with police personnel and other security stakeholders in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, Fayoade said the Nigeria Police Force, working alongside other security agencies, had concluded extensive preparations to safeguard the electoral process.

He stated that security personnel and necessary operational resources had been strategically deployed across the state to guarantee the protection of voters, electoral officers and sensitive election materials before, during and after the exercise.

The senior police officer charged all security operatives assigned to election duties to maintain professionalism, discipline and strict adherence to the rule of law while carrying out their responsibilities.

Fayoade also emphasized the need for effective collaboration among the various security agencies involved in the election, noting that coordinated efforts would be critical to ensuring a peaceful and credible process.

He appealed to political parties, candidates, supporters and members of the public to remain peaceful and cooperate with security agencies, urging all stakeholders to conduct themselves in a manner that would promote a stable electoral atmosphere.

The Supervising DIG is carrying out the assignment alongside Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Olanrewaju Ogunlowo. Both officers were deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to supervise and coordinate security operations for the election.

Fayoade reiterated that security agencies were fully prepared to prevent disruptions and maintain law and order throughout the poll.

Earlier, the Ekiti State Election Commissioner of Police, Dr. Abayomi Shogunle, who recently assumed duty in the state, assured residents that a multi-layered security strategy had been activated to ensure a smooth and hitch-free governorship election.
