President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to elder statesman and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Samuel Olu Falae, on the occasion of his 88th birthday. In an official statement issued by the presidency, Tinubu praised the veteran politician for his lifelong dedication to public service and his vital role in shaping Nigeria’s political development.

The President highlighted Chief Falae’s distinguished career, noting his past contributions as a seasoned administrator and former Minister of Finance. Beyond his civil service record, Tinubu paid rich tribute to Falae’s courageous struggle during the nation’s quest for democratic rule.

He commended the elder statesman’s firm stance against military dictatorship, which earned him a permanent place in the country’s history.

A prominent figure in the pro-democracy movement, Chief Falae was a founding member of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) during the 1990s. President Tinubu recalled their shared experiences in NADECO, praising Falae’s resilience in advocating for constitutional governance, justice, and fundamental human rights despite political persecution.

The Nigerian leader described the octogenarian as a symbol of integrity and patriotism whose wisdom continues to guide younger generations of leaders. Tinubu emphasized that Falae’s unwavering belief in unity and democratic principles remains an inspiration to politicians across party lines.
