Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed confidence that the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) will record a sweeping victory in the 2027 general elections as he formally received thousands of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) into the party.

Makinde made the remarks during a political gathering held in Ibadan, where supporters led by Ajiboye Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation, announced their decision to leave the APC and join the APM.

The defectors were drawn from various local government areas across Oyo State.

The governor said the growing number of new members joining the APM reflected increasing support for the party and expressed optimism that it would perform strongly in future elections. He urged party members to remain united and focused on grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.

Makinde also used the occasion to defend his administration’s record, stating that his government had delivered projects and programmes that would continue to earn the confidence of residents across the state.

Addressing political rivals, the governor called on opposition candidates to focus on presenting their programmes and convincing voters rather than concentrating on criticisms of his administration.

He further highlighted the credentials of APM’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, expressing confidence that voters would support the party’s candidates at various levels during the next election cycle.

The event attracted party leaders, government officials, political supporters and candidates seeking elective positions under the APM platform, underscoring the party’s preparations for upcoming electoral contests.
