Osun APC Crisis Deepens As Four Executives Reject Campaign Council List

Four executives of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State have rejected the recently released Presidential Campaign Council list and demanded its immediate review.

The officials made their position known in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Tuesday, signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Wole Adunola; Welfare Officer, Adesola Ayangbile; Assistant Organising Secretary, Rasheed Adeniji; and the party’s Ex-Officio, Abiola Ololade.

They said following a careful review, the composition of the list does not adequately reflect established party guidelines, due process and the principle of inclusiveness required in constituting such an important campaign structure, and therefore rejected it in its present form.

The affected executives expressed concern over the omission of several members of the State Working Committee who, according to applicable guidelines, are expected to be statutory members of the council.

They also said the composition appears inconsistent with an earlier presidential directive reportedly naming Governor Ademola Adeleke as Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council in Osun State, recalling that Adeleke had already inaugurated a 344-member council on October 22.

The officials noted that if the newly released list is intended to serve as a Parliamentary Campaign Council rather than the Presidential Campaign Council, its composition would be more understandable, adding that the distinction must be clearly established to avoid confusion and friction.

They consequently called for an immediate review of the published list with appropriate consultations involving relevant stakeholders, including the National Secretary of the party, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, and the State Director-General, while reaffirming their commitment to the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
