Four Candidates to Face Voters as Lagos Governorship Debate Holds Sunday
Four candidates vying to govern Lagos State will take the stage on Sunday, November 8, for the first governorship debate of the 2027 election cycle, five days from now.
The candidates confirmed for the event are Obafemi Hamzat of the All Progressives Congress, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the African Democratic Congress, Funso Doherty of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, and Deji Doherty of the Peoples Democratic Party.
They will answer questions from the organisers on issues affecting residents of the state.
The debate is organised by the Nigeria Debate Consortium, a partnership of five media organisations made up of Channels Television, TVC News, Punch, TheCable and Vanguard. It will begin at 7pm at The Hub by IALA, House of His Glory, on Providence Road in Marwa, Lekki.
The consortium said the questions will cover transportation, infrastructure, security, housing, education, healthcare, job creation and economic growth. It pledged that the exercise would be guided by fairness, neutrality, equal opportunity and editorial independence, and urged voters, young people, civil society groups and the business community to follow the proceedings.
The Lagos debate will open a series of engagements in selected battleground states ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the programme set to end with a presidential debate and town hall.
