The chairman of a local government area in Adamawa State has confirmed that at least 12 people were killed following a deadly terrorist attack on a community in the state.

According to local authorities, the attackers stormed the area and carried out a violent assault that left several residents dead, while others sustained injuries and were forced to flee for safety.

The council chairman described the incident as tragic and called for intensified security operations to prevent further attacks on vulnerable communities.

Residents said the attackers invaded the community at night, creating panic as gunfire echoed across the area. Several homes and properties were reportedly affected during the assault.

Security agencies have since been deployed to the area to restore calm, while efforts are ongoing to track down those responsible for the attack and prevent additional violence.

Community leaders have appealed to the federal and state governments to strengthen security presence in affected areas and provide support for families who lost loved ones in the incident.

The latest attack has renewed concerns over insecurity in parts of Adamawa State, where communities have occasionally faced threats from terrorist groups operating within the region. Recent attacks in parts of Hong Local Government Area have also resulted in civilian casualties and destruction of property.

Authorities have assured residents that security operations will continue until the perpetrators are apprehended and normalcy is fully restored.
