Nigeria’s D’Tigress ended their FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup with a 111-56 defeat to France in Berlin, their third loss in Group B and a last-place finish.

France led 31-13 after the first quarter and 65-26 at half-time. They made 22 three-pointers, a World Cup record, and poured in 65 points before the break. Gabby Williams scored 25. Janelle Salaün had 19 and Marine Johannes 17.

Nigeria had already lost to South Korea and Hungary. France go through to the quarter-finals. The African champions go home without a win.

The scoreline is not a mystery. France shot from range as if the rim were a habit. Nigeria could not get a stop or a run. The gap between continental dominance and this tournament’s top tier opened in the first 10 minutes and never closed.

Coach-level talk after nights like this usually turns to rebuild: depth, shooting, and time against Europe and Asia before the next cycle. The players who made D’Tigress feared on the continent were not the problem in theory. On this floor they were out of the game before half-time. That is the campaign in one number: 56 points against 111, and no way back into the draw.
