Obaigbena, Rabiu Named Leadership 2026 Persons of the Year
Leadership Newspapers has selected the Chairman of THISDAY Group and founder of Arise News, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, and BUA Group Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, as its 2026 Persons of the Year.
The newspaper announced the recognition in the Tuesday, September 1, 2026 edition, citing the duo’s contributions to institution-building, investment, innovation, employment generation, talent development and philanthropy.
Leadership said the two businessmen were selected for their roles in building influential organisations, developing talent and introducing new ideas across Nigeria’s media and business sectors.
Obaigbena was recognised for his contribution to the country’s media industry, including the expansion of his media ventures and the launch of Leekelee, a social media platform, in February 2026.
The newspaper also highlighted Rabiu’s impact through BUA Group, particularly the company’s investments in manufacturing and domestic production.
According to Leadership, the investments have contributed to job creation, infrastructure development and value generation for shareholders.
The newspaper also pointed to the philanthropic activities of both businessmen and their broader contributions to public confidence in Nigeria’s economic prospects.
It said the recognition was intended to acknowledge their influence on the country’s economic and social development through their respective businesses, institutions and charitable initiatives.
