Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, Kogi State, has expelled six students over examination misconduct after they were found attempting to rewrite an examination at a lecturer’s private residence.

The university announced the decision following the Senate’s 167th Regular Meeting held on August 26, 2026, where members considered the report of the institution’s Examination Misconduct Committee.

The students were reportedly involved in an unauthorised rewrite of BOT102, Introduction to Plant Science, after initially sitting for the examination on campus. Each student was said to have paid N10,000 for the rewrite.

According to the university, the incident came to light on July 1 after management received credible information that a lecturer was organising the unauthorised examination at his residence.

Following the information, security operatives moved to the lecturer’s residence located behind the Police Area Command Office along Idah Road, Anyigba, where they arrested Maji Okpanachi of the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology, alongside some of the students.

The operatives also recovered items linked to the alleged examination malpractice during the operation.

The security report was subsequently submitted to the university’s Examination Misconduct Committee for investigation. The committee examined the circumstances surrounding the incident and presented its findings to the Senate.

After reviewing the committee’s report, the Senate approved the expulsion of the six students from the university.
