Social Media Commentary Links Tinubu’s Engagement to Growing Isoko Support Ahead of 2027

A social media post circulating on X has claimed that successive Nigerian presidents neglected the Isoko people of Delta State, while President Bola Tinubu has given them greater attention, prompting public praise and speculation about electoral support in 2027.

The post argued that leaders including Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan “forgot” the Isoko, but Tinubu’s administration has been more responsive. It concluded that this shift explains why some Isoko voices are now openly singing the president’s praises and could translate into votes in the next general elections.

The commentary was shared alongside a video clip from a television discussion. In recent months, similar sentiments have surfaced in Delta State political circles. Some Isoko groups and stakeholders have organised rallies and issued public endorsements for Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, citing infrastructure projects, educational investments and other developments in the area as reasons for their support.

At the same time, such claims remain part of broader political messaging rather than verified measures of public opinion across the entire Isoko nation. Nigeria’s ethnic and regional politics often feature competing narratives about representation and delivery, and the Isoko community, like others, contains diverse political views.

The post reflects one strand of ongoing conversation about how federal attention and state-level projects may influence voting patterns in the South-South as the 2027 elections approach.
