Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has challenged the Federal Government to investigate him if it has evidence that he misappropriated or illegally spent N16 billion on power-related projects.

Atiku made the challenge while responding to allegations surrounding expenditure on the power sector during his time in government.

He said he had nothing to hide and was prepared to face any investigation if authorities could produce credible evidence of wrongdoing.

The former vice president maintained that public officials should be held accountable through proper investigations rather than unsubstantiated accusations.

He urged the government to present any documents or evidence it has concerning the alleged expenditure and allow the appropriate institutions to examine them.

Atiku said he remained confident that a transparent investigation would establish the facts surrounding the funds in question.

He also challenged the Federal Government to apply the same standard of accountability to all public officials and ensure that allegations of financial misconduct are thoroughly investigated.

The former vice president has continued to criticise the administration over its handling of public finances and economic policies, arguing that Nigerians deserve greater transparency in the management of national resources.

He reiterated his commitment to accountability and insisted that anyone with evidence of financial wrongdoing against him should bring it forward.

Atiku’s challenge comes amid renewed political exchanges ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition figures increasingly scrutinising the government’s financial decisions and spending.
