Nigeria Police Arrest, Repatriate Chadian Woman Wanted for Murder
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested and repatriated a Chadian national wanted in connection with the murder of a woman in Chad.
The suspect, identified as Mahadijiria Abdoulaye, was arrested by operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, in Kano State after allegedly fleeing Chad following the killing.
Abdoulaye was reportedly wanted over the death of Nazik Mahamat Saleh, who was allegedly tortured and killed on May 3, 2026.
According to the police, the Court of Appeal in N’Djamena issued an international warrant of arrest for Abdoulaye and her alleged accomplice, Fatime Senoussi Mouktar, on June 22 in connection with the case.
The police spokesperson, CSP Ani Iniedu, said Abdoulaye was traced to Railway Quarters in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State and arrested on August 5 following a coordinated intelligence operation.
The suspect was also allegedly linked to narcotics trafficking activities in Chad, the police said.
Following her arrest, Abdoulaye was returned to Chad on August 14 through Lomé, Togo, under bilateral police cooperation arrangements. The repatriation was coordinated by INTERPOL NCB Abuja and its counterpart in N’Djamena to enable the suspect to face judicial proceedings in Chad.
Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu commended the INTERPOL NCB Abuja operatives for what he described as professionalism, diligence and effective cooperation with their Chadian counterparts.
Disu said the operation demonstrated the police force’s commitment to preventing fugitives from escaping justice by crossing international borders.
