Troops Rescue Three Kidnap Victims in Benue

Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have rescued three people abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Ogobia–Otukpo axis of Otukpo Local Government Area, Benue State.

The victims were rescued at about 8 a.m. on Friday, August 14, following a joint response by troops from the Forward Operating Base in Otukpo and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.

Military sources said the operation was launched after security forces received information about an ongoing kidnapping incident in the area.

Upon arriving at the scene, the troops reportedly found a bus abandoned by the suspected kidnappers with no passengers inside. They subsequently pursued the fleeing attackers.

The suspects later abandoned three of their victims, who were recovered and rescued by the troops.

The driver of the vehicle was also found with a gunshot injury sustained during the attack.

The rescued victims were handed over to the police for further action, while security personnel continued efforts to locate and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Security agencies have also stepped up patrols and response operations across Benue State as part of efforts to curb kidnapping and protect commuters and residents in vulnerable communities.
