Troops Kill ISWAP Cameraman, Discover Foreign Trainers in Borno Forest

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised an Islamic State West Africa Province cameraman during a foiled infiltration attempt in Cross Kauwa, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The operation, which took place on Saturday night, also led to the recovery of a Sony camcorder containing sensitive recordings of terrorist activities. Preliminary analysis revealed the involvement of foreign facilitators within the group.

The terrorists had attempted to exploit the cover of darkness to breach troops’ positions and loot medical supplies. Alert soldiers responded with coordinated firepower, forcing the attackers to retreat in disarray. During the engagement, troops recovered several rounds of ammunition, terrorist uniforms, and other combat items. Two soldiers sustained gunshot wounds but are in stable condition after being evacuated for treatment.

Forensic examination of the recovered video materials indicated that the operation was coordinated by four senior ISWAP commanders alongside three foreign terrorist facilitators. These include a Palestinian Arab identified as a trainer, a Moroccan Arab serving as a medical doctor, and another Arab operative whose identity is yet to be established. The presence of these foreign nationals has reinforced intelligence reports about external support for the group.

The failed infiltration attempt represents another significant setback for ISWAP, coming after sustained military pressure across the North East. Security forces continue to dominate the area and conduct exploitation operations to assess the full extent of the terrorists’ losses.

The discovery of foreign trainers and a doctor highlights the transnational nature of the threat posed by the group.

Operation Hadin Kai remains committed to protecting vulnerable communities and dismantling terrorist networks until lasting peace is restored in the region. The latest success underscores the increasing difficulty faced by the terrorists in executing coordinated attacks against well-prepared troops. Local residents are encouraged to continue providing timely intelligence to support ongoing security efforts.
