Stop Criticising Without Offering Solutions, Dayo Amusa Chides Peter Obi
Nollywood actress, Dayo Amusa has waded into the political discourse surrounding Nigerian Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi, publicly challenging him over what she described as a pattern of criticising government policy without offering concrete solutions.
The actress made her views known on social media after watching Obi’s widely discussed interview with broadcaster Rufai Oseni on the Nevon HQ podcast, which aired on June 16, 2026, and generated significant reaction across the country.
In the interview, Obi touched on a range of national issues including insecurity, electricity supply, borrowing, and the state of the Nigerian economy, while drawing comparisons between the current administration’s approach and how he believes things should be handled.
He stated he was not desperate to be president but was passionate about seeing Nigeria function properly for its citizens. He also addressed criticism that he does not speak out on wrongdoing in the South East, flatly rejecting the allegation and insisting he criticises every wrong regardless of where it occurs
Amusa, however, was unmoved by Obi’s wide-ranging commentary. Taking to social media, she argued that constructive engagement with governance requires more than pointing out what is wrong it demands that critics also present workable alternatives.
Her position quickly attracted attention online and renewed debate about the line between political opposition and meaningful policy contribution in Nigeria’s charged pre-2027 election climate.
The interview itself had already become a lightning rod before Amusa’s comments. The Presidency, through Special Adviser Daniel Bwala, had mocked Obi’s performance, claiming the former Anambra governor struggled to clearly articulate his plans even when asked favourable questions. Supporters of Obi pushed back, arguing the interview showed depth and vision. Dayo Amusa’s intervention adds a new dimension to the conversation, reflecting how deeply 2027 election politics is beginning to divide public opinion across Nigeria’s entertainment and media circles.
