Afrobeats superstar, Davido has publicly hit back at a businessman after a petition surfaced accusing him of collecting $50,000 for a show appearance that allegedly never held.

The businessman, identified as Muse Ariyoh, reportedly filed the petition against the singer and another individual, claiming he paid the sum in connection with a planned event that Davido allegedly failed to show up for.

According to documents that have circulated online, the petition was dated May 25, 2026, and a subsequent police invitation letter addressed to the singer was issued on June 22, 2026, urging investigators to look into the matter and determine whether any wrongdoing had taken place.

As of the time of reporting, it remained unclear whether Davido had honoured the police invitation or formally engaged with investigators over the allegation. He did, however, address the matter directly in public. During a livestream session with content creator Carter Efe, the singer dismissed the claims outright, pushing back against the businessman’s account of events and insisting that the allegation did not reflect what actually happened.

His comments spread quickly across social media, drawing mixed reactions from fans and commentators, with the controversy adding to a string of public disputes the singer has faced this year over unpaid debts, campaign offers and other financial allegations.

Davido’s camp has yet to issue any further official statement beyond his remarks on the livestream, and the outcome of the police petition remains to be seen.
