Fave Slams Secret Admirer’s Flower Gift, Calls It Basically ‘Ugu’

Nigerian singer, Fave has publicly called out a secret admirer after receiving what she considered an underwhelming gift, a bouquet of flowers accompanied by a love letter that left her more unimpressed than flattered.

In a video that has since made the rounds online, the singer and songwriter said the sender should have put in more effort, describing the bouquet in blunt terms as nothing more than “ugu,” a playful jab suggesting it looked more like vegetable leaves than a proper romantic gesture.

She explained that the flowers arrived without any name attached and came with a handwritten note scrawled on an ordinary piece of paper rather than a proper card.

Fave said the anonymity of the gesture did nothing to spark her curiosity, especially since nobody reached out afterward to confirm whether the gift had even arrived.

She insisted that gifts of that nature need to meet a certain standard before they earn her appreciation, stating plainly that nobody should bother sending her flowers unless it is something worth receiving.

She also questioned the logic of staying anonymous after sending a gift in the first place, arguing that a proper card with a name would have at least given her the option of knowing who to thank.

Without that, she said, the mystery held no appeal for her. In her words, an anonymous gesture without even a real card was not something she cared to unravel, and she made clear she had no interest in guessing the sender’s identity.

The video quickly gained traction on social media, with many reacting to the singer’s candid response to a gesture that was clearly meant to be romantic but ultimately missed the mark.
