CSOs, Ijaw Youth Council Call for Emergency in Bille Kingdom
Civil Society Organizations and the Ijaw Youth Council have called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in Bille Kingdom, Rivers State.
The urgent appeal comes because of continuous gas eruptions that are threatening lives and the environment in the area. Residents are facing serious dangers from the situation.
The groups expressed worry over the repeated gas incidents that have caused fear among the people. They believe quick government action is needed to protect the community and prevent further harm.
Many families have already been affected by the eruptions and the pollution they bring.
Leaders of the organizations stressed that the situation requires immediate attention from the highest level. They want the government to step in with proper measures to control the gas problem and support the affected residents. This includes providing safety and possible relocation if needed.
This development highlights the environmental challenges facing many oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta. Gas eruptions not only damage the land and water but also put people’s health at risk. The call for emergency measures shows how serious the problem has become.
As the situation continues, many hope the Federal Government will respond quickly to the appeal. Such action could help save lives and bring relief to the people of Bille Kingdom. It also serves as a reminder of the need for better environmental protection in the region.
