Trump Issues Ultimatum to Iran as Drone Strikes Target Gulf Nuclear Plant

US President, Donald Trump warned Iran on Sunday that “the clock is ticking” to reach a peace deal, issuing an ominous threat just as drone attacks hit Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: “For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!”

A drone strike sparked a fire near the UAE’s Barakah nuclear power plant, the first such incident at a Gulf nuclear facility. Abu Dhabi officials confirmed a drone hit an electrical generator outside the plant’s inner perimeter, forcing one reactor onto emergency diesel backup. UAE presidential adviser Anwar Gargash called it a “dangerous escalation, whether carried out by the principal perpetrator or through one of its agents,” pointing at Iran or its proxies.

Saudi Arabia said its air defenses intercepted three drones that entered from Iraqi airspace. Kuwait and Qatar condemned the strikes as violations of Gulf sovereignty.

Separately, Israeli media reported dozens of US cargo planes carrying ammunition from German bases landed in Tel Aviv over the past 24 hours as part of joint preparations for potential renewed military action against Iran.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s corruption trial hearing was cancelled at the last minute after his lawyers cited unspecified “security and political reasons,” submitting details in a sealed envelope.

Ryanair warned consumer anxiety over the war could weigh on its profits, with peak summer fares now expected to remain flat rather than rising as previously forecast. The airline reported an after-tax profit of €2.26 billion for the fiscal year.
