President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to travel from Abuja to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform the lesser Hajj (Umrah) and offer prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and development.

The President’s trip is expected to begin on Thursday, following the announcement of his planned visit by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

During his stay in the holy city, Tinubu is expected to undertake the religious rites associated with Umrah and seek divine guidance for the country amid its economic, security and social challenges.

The visit is also intended to provide an opportunity for spiritual reflection and prayers for the wellbeing of Nigerians.

Before departing the Federal Capital Territory, the President is expected to inaugurate newly acquired equipment for the Nigerian Air Force at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the pilgrimage.

Umrah, commonly referred to as the lesser Hajj, is an Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year, unlike the annual Hajj, which takes place during a designated period of the Islamic calendar.
