Adesua Etomi’s Resilience During Fertility Journey Strengthened Marriage, Says Singer
Nigerian singer and pastor Banky W has shared details of the emotional toll he and his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, faced during their struggle with infertility, describing the period as one of the most humbling experiences of his life.
Speaking on the Teju Babyface Show, Banky W said witnessing his wife undergo multiple unsuccessful in vitro fertilisation (IVF) attempts revealed a level of strength he believes exceeds his own.
He recounted how Etomi persisted through repeated treatment cycles, including administering injections herself, despite setbacks. According to him, the experience reshaped his perspective on their relationship and reinforced his appreciation for her resilience.
The singer added that the challenges influenced his approach to responsibilities at home, noting that he regularly handles tasks such as cooking without complaint, given what his wife endured during the process.
Banky W also said the fertility journey was part of a broader pattern of sacrifice by Etomi, including periods where she paused her acting career to focus on starting a family.
He further explained that the difficult phase strengthened their spiritual bond, bringing them closer to God rather than creating distance.
Etomi, who appeared alongside him during the interview, acknowledged that their marriage has not always been smooth, but indicated that they navigated challenges together.
Reflecting on their relationship, Banky W said they spent about 18 months as friends before officially dating, and became engaged within roughly four and a half months of starting their relationship.
The couple welcomed their first son, Zaiah, in 2021 after publicly speaking about their fertility struggles. They have since had a second son, Hezekiah.
