Kidnappers Demand N1 Billion Ransom for 15 Worshippers in Ekiti

Kidnappers have demanded the huge sum of one billion naira as ransom for the release of 15 worshippers abducted in Ilejemeje, Ekiti State.

The victims were reportedly taken while attending a church programme in the area. The Eleda of Eda-Oniyo, Oba Joseph Awolola, confirmed the development and disclosed the massive ransom demand made by the abductors.

The incident has caused fear and concern among residents in the community and across Ekiti State. Many people are worried about the safety of worshippers and ordinary citizens in the face of rising cases of kidnapping. Families of the abducted persons are said to be in deep distress as they await news about their loved ones.

Oba Joseph Awolola urged relevant authorities to step in quickly to secure the safe release of the victims. He called on security agencies to intensify efforts in tracking down the kidnappers and rescuing the worshippers unharmed.

The monarch stressed the need for urgent action to prevent further harm to the innocent people held captive.

Kidnapping for ransom has become a serious problem in different parts of Nigeria in recent times. Criminals often target vulnerable groups, including travellers, students, and now worshippers, making life difficult for many communities. This latest case in Ekiti has once again highlighted the challenge of insecurity facing the nation.

As the situation unfolds, residents hope that security forces will respond swiftly and bring the victims back safely without anyone paying such an outrageous ransom.
