Police Arrest 3 Suspected Kidnappers in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the abduction of a resident, Marian Remi, in Ido Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects—Musa Ajibola, 29; Hassan Mohammadu, 63; and Umaru Hassan, 19—were apprehended on April 21 at Latayo Farm Settlement, Ile-Idu, following intelligence supplied by members of the public, according to the police.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday, noting that the suspects had been linked to the kidnapping and subsequent release of the victim.

He said the arrests were carried out on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Abimbola, after actionable intelligence prompted a coordinated operation by security personnel.

According to the police, the suspects confessed to their roles during interrogation, providing useful information about the criminal network, while efforts are ongoing to track down other accomplices.

The command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, stressing the importance of public cooperation in tackling crime.

It also commended residents for providing credible information that aided the operation and urged continued collaboration between citizens and security agencies to enhance safety across the state.
