Military Forces Eliminate Top Bandit Commanders Along Gusau-Funtua Highway
Troops of the Nigerian Army operating in the North-West zone have successfully neutralized several prominent bandit leaders during a high-stakes tactical engagement along the Gusau-Funtua highway corridor.
The offensive was launched after intelligence surveillance units flagged the movement of heavily armed criminal groups attempting to set up blockades and launch ambushes against motorists along the busy interstate route.
According to military operational reports, the ground forces engaged the insurgents in a fierce firefight, forcing the surviving members of the criminal network to retreat deeper into surrounding forest hideouts.
The military confirmed that during the post-clash search of the area, troops recovered a significant cache of military-grade weapons, tactical equipment, and ammunition abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
Security authorities assured the public that joint patrol teams remain heavily deployed across key highways to maintain dominant operational control and protect commercial transportation networks against residual threats.
