Yinka Alaseyori, Esther Igbekele, Others Honour Toluwanisings With Songs At Emotional Ibadan Tribute Night

Gospel artistes and members of the Yoruba entertainment community gathered in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, for an emotional night of tributes to late gospel singer Olayemi Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings.

The event held at Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, drew family members, colleagues, friends and fans of the “Kabiyesi Olorun Ayo” crooner.

Gospel singers Adeyinka Alaseyori and Esther Igbekele were among those who paid tribute through worship, songs and personal reflections. Others present included Sarah Apekeola, Peterson Okopi, Bidemi Olaoba, producer Akintayo Akinwande, filmmaker Laolu Gbenjo and actress Bimbo Oshin.

Many of the performers were dressed in white. Alaseyori was visibly emotional as she performed Ase Ti Jade, a song she recorded with Toluwanisings during their rise in the gospel music scene, while Igbekele ministered an inspirational Christian song that stirred the hall.

The most moving moment came when the late singer’s widow, Elizabeth, took to the podium and broke down in tears. She told her late husband that she would forever miss him and asked him not to forget her and their two daughters.

Toluwanisings died in mid-October after he reportedly slumped at his residence in Ibadan. His death has since drawn public attention, with allegations that he had difficulty accessing emergency medical care.

His family has said burial plans remain on hold until the authorities establish the circumstances of his death, and that they will keep bearing the mortuary costs in the meantime. They have called for a transparent and impartial investigation and urged the government, community leaders and security agencies to prevent any interference.

The family has also raised the possibility of foul play, citing what they described as a lack of visible mourning at his residence when some relatives visited. No official finding on the cause of death has been announced.

The singer’s grandmother has separately said he should be buried in the house he built.
