Gunmen Kill Bus Driver, Abduct Passengers in Edo State
Suspected gunmen have carried out a violent attack in Edo State, resulting in the death of a commercial bus driver. The vehicle, which was traveling from Lagos toward the eastern part of the country, was intercepted by the attackers on the highway.
The assailants unleashed heavy gunfire on the bus, effectively forcing the driver to stop the vehicle. The sudden and intense nature of the attack left the occupants vulnerable to the criminals, who immediately seized control of the situation upon halting the transit.
A video circulating online has captured the grim aftermath of the assault. In the footage, a witness alleges that the gunmen shot the driver dead before dragging the remaining passengers out of the bus and into the nearby bush.
The Edo State Police command has officially confirmed the incident. Assistant Superintendent Eno Ikoedem, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the attack took place within the jurisdiction of the Iguobazuwa Police Division.
In response to the abduction, the Commissioner of Police has ordered an immediate and intensive search. Adjoining police divisions have been mobilized to comb the surrounding forest area in an effort to rescue the abducted victims and capture those responsible.
