APC Sets 2027 Presidential Form Fee at ₦100 Million, Releases Primary Timetable
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released its electoral timetable for the 2027 general elections, signaling the start of the party’s internal selection process.
According to the schedule signed by the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, the party’s presidential primary is set to take place from May 15 to May 16, 2026.
A major highlight of the announcement is the high cost of entry for presidential hopefuls, with the APC pegging its presidential nomination and expression of interest forms at ₦100 million. This total is divided into ₦30 million for the expression of interest form and ₦70 million for the nomination form.
Other elective positions also have significant price tags. Governorship aspirants are expected to pay ₦50 million for their forms, while those vying for Senate seats must pay ₦20 million. Aspirants for the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly will be required to pay ₦10 million and ₦6 million, respectively.
The party has established a strict window for the nomination process, with the sale of forms at the National Secretariat beginning on April 25 and concluding on May 2, 2026. Completed forms must be submitted no later than May 4, 2026, to remain eligible for the screening exercise.
Regarding the selection timeline, the screening of aspirants is scheduled to occur between May 6 and May 8, with the results slated for release on May 11. Any resulting appeals are expected to be handled between May 12 and May 13, while primary elections for other legislative and executive offices will follow in late May.
Despite the high fees, the APC has introduced concessions for certain groups to promote inclusivity. Female aspirants, youths, and persons living with disabilities are exempted from paying for expression of interest forms and will receive a 50 percent discount on the cost of nomination fees.
