NSCDC Dismantles Badagry Illegal Baby Factory, 28 Victims Rescued

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, have uncovered a suspected “baby factory” syndicate operating in the Badagry area of the state.

The successful sting operation led to the rescue of 28 victims and the dismantling of an organized criminal network allegedly involved in human trafficking and the illegal sale of infants.

The raid, which took place following a period of intensive intelligence gathering, caught the syndicate off guard. Among the rescued individuals were several pregnant women and young girls who were reportedly being held in dehumanizing conditions.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the facility was being used as a hub where victims were coerced or lured with promises of employment, only to be forced into childbearing for the purpose of selling the newborns to the highest bidder.

Confirming the development, the Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC stated that the operation was part of a broader mandate to crack down on organized crime and human rights abuses within the state.

“Our officers acted on credible intelligence regarding suspicious movements and activities in the identified building,” the Commandant noted. “We are relieved to have pulled these 28 individuals out of such a traumatic environment, and they are currently receiving medical attention and psychological support.”

Several suspects, including the alleged kingpins of the syndicate, were apprehended during the exercise and are currently in custody.

The NSCDC has indicated that the suspects are assisting with ongoing investigations to identify other collaborators and potential buyers linked to the illicit trade. The Corps emphasized that once investigations are concluded, the perpetrators will be charged to court to face the full weight of the law.

The Lagos State Command has reiterated its appeal to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities within their neighborhoods to security agencies. This latest bust highlights the persistent challenge of human trafficking in the region and underscores the commitment of the NSCDC to safeguarding vulnerable citizens from predatory criminal syndicates.
